Commodore’s Comments

 

I missed most of January, being in Florida visiting Elinore’s daughter and grandson.  I didn’t miss some of the weather here.

As James tells us two races were postponed, one for too much weather and one for not enough!  Brad is putting together some great programs so be sure to join us on Wednesdays for them!

 

Please remember that SDCA meets every first Wednesday of the month; that is, except during the Beer Can Series.  The first Beer Can race in on May 28th, so the June meeting will be on the first Thursday, the 5th.  The last Beer Can race is August, 6th, so the August meeting will be on Thursday, the 7th.  The September meeting will be back to Wednesday’s, starting the 3rd.

 

Our web site has been down during January due to our provider upgrading.  I expect it to me back up in a few days.

SDCatA Cruising in 2008

Our cruising chair, Larry Pascoe, is planning an active cruising year with monthly trips during the 2008 cruising season.  Potential cruising destinations include:  Glorietta Bay, Mission Bay, Coronado Cays, South Coronado Island, Two Harbors Catalina, and Ensenada.  These cruises will be overnights and potentially week trips.  Participating with the SGYC for their race/raft up in Mission Bay and Oceanside is also planned.  Larry has attempted to make the following schedule to avoid SGYC races, V32 races and holidays.  Your comments are requested.

Race Chair report February, 2008

 

  The 2008 SDCaTA race season is off to a slow start with our first two races being canceled. The first race was canceled due to one of the winter storms, too much rain and too much wind the second race was initially postponed for over an hour and then canceled due to lack of wind. Let’s hope our third race of the season the Frostbite Overnight goes a little smoother.

  In the Jan 19th CRA race we had two Catalina boats entered. Brad got 5th out of 5 and I got 3rd out of three. Kind of a bad day for the club boats. Brad and I will be competing against each other this season in some of the South Bay races. I have never raced down there so it will be a new adventure for the Escape team.

  I would like to welcome our new members to the club and I hope to see them out on the water racing with us.

Time to think about the 2008 NOOD Regatta.

 

We’ll need 6 boats to make a fleet.

 

I’m going to see if the fleet in Long Beach is interested in coming down as well.

 

I don’t have an e-mail for Rich Freeman from Ravens Dream, but if any of you have his contact info, send it to me.
